The Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy
Rosary
(Holy Rosary Minor Seminary)
Theme:
Rosary: Imitating Mary’s Humble Service as
Seminarians
By: Sem. Cordial
Once again, we celebrate our Mother but
in a different fashion for today, we celebrate
“Our Lady of the Most
Holy Rosary”. Our theme is “Imitating
Mary’s Humble Service as Seminarians”. What does this mean? Living does not
mean that we are supposed to be served but we must serve for the theme again
states Mary’s humble service. The theme does not completely say the kind
of service that we are supposed to do but one thing is for sure, that we are
giving every kind of service according to our strength. As Seminarians, we are
supposed to give service not for the reward or the wealth we are given but we
must do this for sacrifice. In the theme, we are called to imitate which means,
everything that Mary did, we must also follow. To be pure is not impossible if
we have faith in the Lord. Asking forgiveness cannot to a person is not scary
if you have faith that the person and in the Lord that both of them will not
get tired of forgiving you. Giving service is not lazy or tiring if you ask God
enough strength needed in your task of instead asking a task equal to
your strength. The reason that we should not be lazy in giving humble service
to others is that we must have Joy. Joy also corresponds the order we should
give service to:
J-
Jesus
O-
Others
Y-
Yourself
Giving service does not mean that we
should always give complete sense to ourselves or self-service, but giving
service needs us to be selfless. Now that we are done with the theme for the
celebration, we can now move on to the event on why the theme actually exists.
The event we are celebrating this October is the Feast of Our Lady of the Most
Holy Rosary. It is said that the Rosary is the strongest weapon that can
be used against the devil. It is also said by St. Faustina that the “Rosary
is the most powerful weapon against the devil.” It is also said that Prayer is
the greatest weapon that can be used against the devil. Both of these traits
are related because if there is a Rosary, there is prayer (We know that we can
also pray to God even without the Rosary) but the Rosary lets us remember the
joy, the gloriousness, and the suffering of our Lord.
Since people are so stubborn at these
times, we only think of ourselves which is also referred to the previous part
of this article but when we completely devote ourselves to God, we feel no
pain, no laziness, and no stubbornness. Think about it, we are only doing
things only for the pleasure of the flesh but Jesus gave service to us for our
lives. Jesus Christ died for our sake. We are not going to die if we
just give humble service to others, we can only give our lives if it is
necessary that we may lay down our lives. “There is no greater love than to lay
down one’s life for his friends.” All of us are friends when we are celebrating
this event. This even pertains to non-seminarians. All that I can say is love
one another for love is a gift which you can use to change the world. Love is a
gift. Love is GOD.
Love comes from the Germanic word ‘lufu’;
from an Indo-European root shared by Sanskrit “lubhyati” which
means “desires” and also in “amare”
(Latin) which means “pleasing”.
Love is pleasing indeed if you really feel
that your spiritual life needs it. Love is also a kind of sacrifice on which
you need to somehow make a change or a statement. The very first statement of
great love ever known is, well… US.
We are the reasons that love exists. We are created by God and therefore God
created and redeemed us in the name of love. Again, the 2nd
statement of great love is when God redeemed or set the Israelites free from
Pharaoh. The 3rd statement of great love is when Jesus, the Son of
David, Son of the Almighty Father, redeemed us by our sins by letting Himself
be crucified on the cross. This crucifying is also called as sacrifice. Jesus
sacrificed Himself. And we also know that love leads to sacrifice. So, this
event gives us the message that we are not only allowed to love each other in
this event but we also need to give sacrifices like giving up your gadgets to
just attend mass. And in the near future, sacrificing your life for the one you
love.
Our Lady of The
Most Holy Rosary, Pray for Us!
